Column Covers

Custom Column Covers - Portland, Oregon

Custom metal column covers and pilaster cladding for commercial buildings across Oregon and Washington. Fabricated from ACM and aluminum to your exact column dimensions. Square, rectangular, multi-sided, or radius profiles.

Exposed structural columns are one of the first things people notice at a building's entrance, lobby, or parking structure. Column covers transform raw concrete, steel, or masonry columns into polished architectural elements that coordinate with the rest of the building's facade system. PDX Panels fabricates column covers that fit tightly to your substrate, align cleanly at seams, and hold their shape over time.

We produce column covers in ACM for lightweight, colorful applications and solid aluminum for applications requiring greater rigidity or a premium finish. All column cover systems include the vertical seam details, top cap flashings, and base conditions needed for a complete, weather-tight installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about custom column covers - portland, oregon. Contact us for anything not covered here.

We fabricate square, rectangular, and multi-sided (hexagonal, octagonal) column covers. For round columns, we can produce multi-faceted covers that approximate a round profile. True radius-bent panels are available for certain applications. Provide your column dimensions and the desired profile and we'll design the appropriate cover.

ACM (aluminum composite material) is the most common choice. Lightweight, easy to work with, and available in a wide range of PVDF colors. Solid aluminum sheet is used when greater rigidity or wall thickness is required, or for applications where a premium finish is specified. Both materials are available in PVDF Kynar 500 coatings.

Column covers typically attach to a steel sub-frame or directly to the column using a clip or welded stud system. We design the attachment system based on your column type (concrete, steel, masonry) and the cover material. We can provide sub-frame drawings as part of the shop drawing package.

Yes. True curved column covers require roll-bending the face sheets, which is a specialty process. We can produce multi-faceted curved approximations in ACM or sheet aluminum. Contact us with your column diameter and we'll advise on the best approach.

Attachment systems vary depending on the substrate and design. Common methods include welded studs to structural steel, power-anchored clips to concrete or masonry, and pre-punched sub-frames that attach to the column and receive the panel clips. We engineer the attachment system as part of the column cover design.
