Custom Metal Flashing Fabrication in Portland, OR
Metal flashing is the sheet metal that seals and waterproofs the transitions and joints in a building envelope. It covers every point where two different materials or systems meet and create a potential water entry point. Properly fabricated and installed flashing is the difference between a building that stays dry for decades and one that generates moisture claims within a few years.
PDX Panels specializes in precision brake-formed flashings for roofing contractors, siding contractors, and masonry contractors throughout Portland, Beaverton, Gresham, and Vancouver, WA. We fabricate to your exact specifications from drawings, field measurements, or sample pieces.
Types of Flashings We Fabricate
Roof Flashing: Step flashing, counter flashing, valley flashing, and base flashing for steep-slope and low-slope roofing systems. We fabricate to SMACNA standards in galvanized steel, aluminum, or copper.
Window Flashing: Head, sill, and jamb flashings for window and door openings. Sill pans and door pans with end dams and slope. Compatible with all major window flashing tape systems.
Kickout Flashing: Diverter flashings for roof-to-wall transitions where water must be directed into the gutter rather than behind the cladding. Critical for fiber cement and stucco siding longevity.
Counter Flashing: The cap flashing that laps over step flashing at roof-to-wall intersections. Available in reglet-set and surface-applied profiles.
Through-Wall Flashing: For masonry walls, through-wall flashing is embedded in the wall assembly to drain water that enters through mortar joints to the exterior via weep holes. We fabricate in EPDM-coated steel or heavy-gauge aluminum.
Base Flashing: At the base of parapet walls, curbs, and roof penetrations, integrating with the roofing membrane system. Typically 24-gauge galvanized or 0.040" aluminum.
Materials Available
We stock and fabricate in all standard architectural sheet metals:
Prefinished & Primed Steel. 20ga, 22ga, 24ga, 26ga: Factory primed or finished steel ready for paint or left as-is. Excellent for hidden and exposed flashings where a painted finish is specified.
Prefinished Aluminum. 0.030", 0.040", 0.060": Corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and compatible with most building systems. The standard choice for exposed flashings where galvanic compatibility is a concern.
Galvanized Steel. 16ga, 18ga, 20ga: Hot-dip galvanized G-90 steel for heavy-duty structural flashings, curb caps, and through-wall applications requiring extra strength.
Stainless Steel. 22ga, 24ga, 26ga: Type 304 for most applications; Type 316 for high-corrosion environments including coastal and industrial. Long service life with no maintenance.
Copper (16 oz and 20 oz): The premium choice for long-lived, high-quality installations and historic restoration. Self-healing patina protects against corrosion.
Kynar/PVDF-Coated Steel: Factory paint finish in any architectural color. Ideal when the flashing will be visible and needs to match the building's color palette.
